Disney cels and animation art
Walt Disney was a pioneer in animation with the creation of Mickey Mouse and with Snow White, the first full length feature film.
Animation cels became a very popular item available for sale at Disneyland. They started around $1.50. Before this time, cel collecting had been reserved for relatively few gallery visitors. With the low prices, people were introduced to the beauty of cels and the thrill of collecting them. Thousands of cels were bought from the time the Art Corner at Disneyland opened in 1955 until it closed its doors in the early 1960s. After the Art Corner closed, cels were sometimes sold at the Emporium on Main Street, and in Tinker Bells Toy Shop in Fantasyland. Cels from the Art Corner typically have a Gold Seal on the rear, indicating it is from the Art Corner.
